Otto Golze & Söhne is characterised by 140 years of tradition and innovation. The key milestones include:
Founding of the company by Wilhelm Golze in Landsberg an der Warthe (present-day Poland).
Production and distribution of the first coir mats for cars. The VW Beetle's standard fittings were made purely of rubber without textile materials. Acting as the exclusive supplier, Golze fitted out the VW Beetle with coir mats for some 15 years. Mercedes was also supplied with car mats by Golze.
Development of the manufacturing process for coir velour with PVC backing and establishment of the company's own plant for in-house manufacturing. Golze held the patent for 20 years.
Takeover of the Strasser coir and sisal weaving mill with the ASTRA brand.
Development and introduction of the first flock-printed doormat. The flock-printing process itself was already known, but had not yet been applied to doormats. Golze carried out testing for two years before achieving the permanent application of flock print to doormats.
